About Mathangi Dance Company (MDC)

What began in a 50-square-foot apartment living room in 2016 has now blossomed into one of Michigan’s leading Indian dance schools. MDC was founded with a singular mission: to teach Indian dance the right way—with authenticity, discipline, and passion.

From that humble beginning, MDC has grown phenomenally. Today, we proudly train over 300 dancers across multiple branches, offering structured guidance and mentorship in various Indian dance forms. But MDC is more than just a dance school. It is a nurturing ground where young dancers not only hone their skills, but also grow in confidence, character, and cultural pride.

We hold strong to our core values—Excellence, Discipline, Inspiration, Unity in Diversity, and Uplift—and we weave them into every class, rehearsal, and performance. We are committed to ensuring that the time and investment made by our students and their families are valued through quality instruction, meaningful experiences, and a warm, supportive community.

Join us on this beautiful journey of movement, meaning, and magic. At MDC, we don’t just teach dance—we build dancers for life.

Her journey began at age 4; by 11 she had choreographed her first hit piece. She has trained, choreographed, and performed for hundreds of schools, colleges and corporate productions. She spent six years with John Britto’s Dance Company in Chennai, performing in 1,000+ shows worldwide and appearing on networks including Sun TV, Jaya TV, Raj TV, Star Vijay, Asianet and Doordarshan.
